Sierra eRiders is an initiative of the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) and a Sierra Leone based non-profit organization that provides technology support, and helps others initiate technology support programs within the development community of Sierra Leone. We believe that information and communication technologies (ICTs) offer new opportunities that can help development organizations do what they do better and more efficiently. Our objective is of the Community Radio Network, and a community of non-profit organizations within Sierra Leone that have access to the technology and know-how that is necessary to better accomplish their goals.

eRiders offer a variety of services that can be customized for each organisation. Below is an outline of eRiders’ basic service structure.

Assessment: During the assessment process, an eRider analyses and documents how your organization currently uses technology, and what bottlenecks exist.t.

Planning: Building off on the assessment results and your strategic goals, an eRider helps define a technology plan that will focus future efforts and expenditures. The resulting document(s) can even be used as fund-raising tools.

ICTs for Community Radio Network in Sierra Leone

Sierra eRiders is currently undertaking an ICT program for the Community Radio Network (CORNET) in Sierra Leone.

One of the most important resource of this program is the use of computer and a radio playout and automation system broadcast software called Campcaster (www.campcaster.org), by the Media Developement Loan Fund - MDLF (www.mdlf.org), that is use to upload, manage, and schedule programs to be broadcast.
